Tutorial: How to rez an object that’s been packed using Builder’s Buddy scripts
Hi peeps! Here’s another tutorial for you. This one’s all about how to rez an object that’s been packed using the free, open source Builder’s Buddy scripts.
Hop behind the cut!
First, make sure you’re standing on a flattish piece of ground, or on a prim up in the sky (if you’re rezzing a skybox). Then, rez your box.
Click the box and select ‘build’ from the menu.
All the bits of the house (or objects contained in the box) will assemble around you. Um, it’s a good idea to stand back a bit (and if you’re on a sky platform it’s a good idea to fly, as it’s not unknown for a rezzing building to hammer an avatar right through the platform to plummet to the ground!)
You’ll probably want to reposition your home, so click the box again and select ‘reposition’ from the menu. Now, move the box and the home will follow it. Remember: don’t move the home; move the box.
When you’ve got it where you want it, click the box again and select ‘done’ from the menu. This will remove the Builder’s Buddy scripts from all the prims in the home. (I’ve checked this with prims that contain other scripts, such as animated textures and door scripts, and inserting and removing Builder’s Buddy scripts doesn’t affect them in any way.)
Once you’ve clicked ‘done’ you can delete the original box. (If the box itself is No Copy, but some or all of the contents are copiable, it’s best to take the box back into inventory, so you have a copy you can rez again if you need to.)
One final thing. If you make a mistake or want to de-rez the building or objects, click the box again and select ‘clean’ from the menu. This will put all the bits back into the box, so to speak.
NOTE: this will only work if you haven’t yet clicked ‘done’. If you have clicked ‘done’ just delete the bits manually (or, if they’re No Copy, take them back into inventory).
